Ara Yaralyan (b.1973) has studied jazz double bass at the Estonian Music Academy, from where he got a Master of Music degree in 2010. He has also studied at the Metropolia University in Finland. In addition to his own trio he plays in the jazz-folk ensemble Shabat Quartet, the jazz guitar trio Sooäär/Yaralyan/Ounaskari (who received the prize of The Estonian Jazz Group of 2022) performing frequently in Estonia and abroad. He has performed with many internationally known musicians, such as Ingrid Jensen, Kari Ikonen, Markku Ounaskari, Vardan Ovsepian, Vahagn Hayrapetyan, Datevik Hovhannisyan, Kristjan Randalu. Yaralyan has performed in Finland, Sweden, Russia, Latvia, France, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Irland, Italy, Armenia, Switserland and USA. Ara’s playing and/or compositions/arrangments can be heard on more than 20 records. Yaralyan works as a bass, jazz music theory teacher at MUBA in Tallinn and Art school in Maardu.
